An agreement was signed this week in a ceremonious atmosphere between Rosh Yeshivat Bnei David Rabbi Eli Sadan, Rav of Yishuv Tapuach Rabbi Shmuel Rosensweig and acting head of the Shomron Regional Council Yossi Dagan for the opening of Medreshet Hillel. The new women’s Mechina will operate in Tapuach under the guidance of Rav Sadan, who launched the first men’s Mechina yeshiva over 25 years ago.
The ceremony in Tapuach was held on Sunday, 27 Sivan. It was explained the first class will include 50 students and IY”H classes will begin in Elul.
The rosh yeshiva of Medreshet Hillel will be Rabbi Eliezer Kashtiel and he will be assisted by Rebitzen Geula Nissim. They program intends to give the young women the required spiritual guidance and chizuk prior to embarking on sheirut leumi. It is explained the program is exclusively for young women entering a sheirut leumi program. Rav Sadan feels the program is required to better equip the women to face the challenges and responsibilities of a sheirut leumi program as well as life following the program.

Excellent!!!
What is a Mechina program? Is this code word for Gemora study? Because if it is I hardly think the sentence “IY”H classes will begin in Elul” is appropriate. I don’t think Hashem really would want that.
avi732, Why wouldn’t Hashem want that? Before the founding of Bais Yaakov, one would have asked why we need girls learning Torah in the school setting.
jewishflorida: I might be wrong and I I am I apologize but if the curriculum in the Midreshet includes Gemora then the Chofetz Chaim and other Gedolim who encouraged Sara Shnerer to open the Bais Yaakov would not approve. They backed the opening of the school due to עת לעשות לה׳ but by no means did they intend for it to evolve to a gemora oriented school. And I don’t think anyone who might have sanctioned this type of school today is on the level of the Gedolim who originally supported the Bais Yaakov’s. So again I maintain that Hashem doesn’t want this school in its current state.
avi….. I am in awe. You know exactly what Hashem wants and what he doesn’t. Even Gedolim aren’t on that level! The truth is that times evolve, and I’m not talking about bringing down the mechitza and bringing in the microphone. Centuries ago one can argue that Hashem wants women to be in the kitchen, clean the house, and continue to have more and more children. Thus, (one of the reasons) why BY was formed was to provide a Jewish education for women. Sure, call it empowering women, if you wish. Touro and Stern College now exist to provide a college education for women, decades ago that would have been taboo. We are in a different age now, where straight halacha is not being broken. Some rabbanim forbid women from driving. My wife ‘breaks’ that rule and does drive a car. Stern College has Gemora classes for women. Please prove an halachic violation with this new women’s mechina.
