Popular chassidic singer Yaakov Shwekey made hundreds of chareidi soldiers dance in the Jordan Valley and told them of the special commitment he took upon himself after Operation Protective Edge, the 2014 counter-terrorism offensive launched by the IDF in Gaza.
Shwekey last week surprised the Nachal Chareidi recruits in the Peles training base in the Jordan Valley. Shwekey sang and made 200 chareidi soldiers dance in a voluntary and spontaneous performance, escorted by a few players from his band. Towards the end of the gig Shwekey surprised everyone with a special rendition to his song “Vehee She’amdah”, while the chareidi soldiers joined in at the chorus and sang with him the line “and HaKodosh Baruch Hu saves us from them”.
During the performance, Shwekey told the soldiers that “after the last operation, I have accepted upon myself that in every performance I will dedicate a song to the soldiers, and it is my custom ever since in every performance. On my behalf, dedicating a song to soldiers and then singing it for them is a peak moment”.
The training base commander, Lt.-Colonel Aryeh Shchori, course commander, Aryeh Elbaz and the Nachal Charedi foundation rabbis’ participated in the performance organized by the Nachal Charedi Foundation.

Kol hakavod mr shwekey
Only a sefardi with such a heart would do that May Hashem bless him! AMEN!
These are by and large non-Chareidi soldiers, as the so-called Nachal Chareidi is composed of mostly non-Chareidim by far.
