A family of five are thankful to have escaped a fast moving fire early Monday morning that left their home destroyed.
Ramapo Police tell YWN that they received calls at 4:07AM reporting a structure fire on Dorchester Drive. Upon the arrival of the Fire Department, the residence was found to be fully engulfed in flames. The family of five living at the residence was thankfully out of the house and uninjured. The husband and wife, and three young children, ages six, three, and one years old were all safe.
The Tallman Volunteer Fire Department was assisted by three other fire departments – Suffern, Spring Valley, and the Mahwah, NJ Volunteer Fire Departments.
The Rockland County Sheriff’s Dept. Bureau of Criminal Investigation was also called out to investigate the cause of the fire.
Based on the preliminary investigation the fire appears to have started in the garage and as of this time does not appear to be suspicious.
