In a statement released by the Tzohar Rabbonim organization, Tzohar expresses disapproval of the actions of newly-appointed Minister of Religious Services (Shas) David Azoulai. “We are sorrowed that a minister in Israel who is responsible for religious matters for all citizens of Israel became confused in his first media interview between the good of the tzibur at large, the religious and non-religious citizens of Israel and what is good for chareidi askanim and others who navigate his actions”.
Shortly after his appointment, Azoulai decided to launch an attack against Tzohar, with Tzohar officials’ pointing out it is a private rabbinical organization that marries more couples annually than any other. Azoulai announced he does not plan to work with or cooperate with Tzohar.
Tzohar proclaims it remains undeterred and it will continue “the thousands of monthly religious activities nationwide” despite the policy of the new minister, warning if compelled to do so, it will cease cooperating with the Chief Rabbinate of Israel in the future.

The problem isn’t Azoulai – he is merely a puppet. The problem is his puppet master – Deri.
Oh Mr Libi,
What exactly do you know? Just remember that this organisation Tzohar who by the way have no Sephardi Rabbis has been harshly criticised by Rav Ovadia as has Rav Stav their leader. And these are the views of the Haredi leadership as well.
The organisation may be well meaning, but they lack any Gadolim and their lenient stance on conversion and other matters whilst attractive to the unknowing public is problematical when there is reason to doubt the expertise of their leadership.
