Six people were treated for smoke inhalation on Wednesday morning 9 Sivan in a fire in the eastern capital attributed to the sharav heatwave. The victims were transported to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital and to Shaare Zedek Medical Center.
13:00: Firefighters in Shomron are battling a blaze three kilometers from Yishuv Sla’it. Four planes are involved in the effort to protect the blaze from reaching the yishuv.
12:44: A large fire is raging in the Nachal Sorek area of Beit Shemesh. 18 fire units including 4 firefighting planes are involved in trying to bring he blaze under control.
11:40: At least three homes have been engulfed in flames in a fire in Tel Monde. The fire is still not under control as efforts continue to prevent it from spreading to additional homes.
10:45: Fires reported in a number of areas around Israel due to the extreme hot and dry conditions. The fire reported above broke out near Ras el-Amud. MDA EMTs and paramedics operated on the scene.
10:38: a brush fire was reported in the Atarot Industrial Zone in the northern capital. Six fire units were dispatched in an effort to bring the blaze under control to prevent the spread of the fire to nearby homes. (Photo shows this fire).
As reported earlier, hundreds of firefighters are on alert status along with 12 firefighting planes as fire department officials fear the extreme heat will result in forestry fires.
