A Crown Heights resident noticed a group of four teens walking up to a porch on Carroll Street between Albany and Troy Avenues and taking three scooters, on Wednesday afternoon. As the group was leaving the property they noticed they were being watched and dropped two of scooters and made off toward Troy Avenue.
The witness called the Shmira hotline while keeping an eye on the group. Shmira members responded and within minutes were able to locate the group on Carroll Street between Troy and Schenectady Avenues. After the witness identified the group, 911 was called and Police placed the perpetrator that was riding the scooter, under arrest. Shmira members located the owner and the stolen property was returned.
Shmira thanks the NYPD 71st Precinct for a quick response.
With summer approaching there is usually a spike in crime. Please keep your belongings properly secured and always be aware of your surroundings.
