The Waterbury Police placed the Waterbury Yeshiva Ketana as well as the local Public School on lockdown, at around 1:30PM, Tuesday.

Sources tell Waterbury YWN that police were in pursuit of a vehicle occupied by an armed man.

The vehicle reportedly crashed on Chauncey Street and Cook Street, and the suspect bailed out on foot.

The suspect is wanted for an armed robbery of a local convenience store.

As a precaution, both schools were placed on lockdown.

The Yeshiva is located on Buckingham Street, and the public school is located on Driggs Street.

At around 2:30PM, police lifted the lockdown, and said the security situation is under control.

  1. i live in waterbury. nothing happened, please update. why you making all the grandparents worried for entertainment purposes..

    please verify sources..

Moderator’s Note: There wasn’t an armed robbery? Police didn’t have a pursuit and the suspect crashed? He isn’t armed and fled on foot? The schools weren’t placed on precautionary lockdown?

  2. While some of this information may be factually correct, why is YWN practicing sensational reporting? At the time this news article was posted the suspect was apprehended and in police custody. Why was this information not included?

Moderators Response: Why the need to be dishonest? Seriously. This was posted in live time.

  3. mr groner has a point if you are going to listen to every random person and refer to them as a source than here’s one police in Waterbury have found a person speeding please post that as well!!!!

  4. Thank you YW for informing the public about the situation. It may have not have ended as a serious situation, but it is appreciated that you inform the public of a potentially serious situation. Ignore the above critics on this.

  5. its nice that #5 and #6 are so considerate, I hope that this never happens to a school that their grandkids are in, chas v’shalom… as I do not know if you will live through the heart attack or nervous breakdown thinking that your granchildren might be shot with nothing you can do. This post did not do anything to help the situation for anyone, as the appropriate people knew about it, this was just a sensational story with no relevance.

  6. Thank you YWN. Were waiting for years to finally make it onto YWN!! hopefully next time we can get on for Good news….

  7. Some people are just interested in satisfying their curiousity and don’t care what the consequences are and who they affect.
Which state is Waterbury in? If this is meant to inform the public at least it should be informative.
