Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon announced he supports increasing monthly child allowance payments, a position that is contrary to his predecessor, Yair Lapid.
Kahlon on Sunday, Yom Yerushalayim 5775 entered the treasury after last week’s swearing-in ceremony. He told the press “I worked very hard to get her and promise to continue working even harder here”.
He added that he brings a new world outlook to the office, one that places people in the center of his considerations. He explains that economics and the economy are extremely important but they must serve people and not the opposite. He feels that the current situation in Israel is not a good one as there is too large a gap between the different social economic segments of Israeli society.
“It is always easy to cut and take from the weaker who count every penny. There is no problem to cut monthly child allowance payments in a moment but I support the monthly payments. I am not willing to have a situation in the nation in which I serve as finance minister that a child looks at his friend and sees hunger. Not on my watch” he added.
Kahlon added that people must work to support themselves honorably. “People must return home from work with a smile on the face and they should leave the same way”.
