New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is outlining his vision for more liberal national policies with a pair of high-profile stops in Washington.
De Blasio, a first-term Democrat, has fashioned himself one of the left’s loudest voices on the need to combat income inequality.
He appeared Tuesday morning with another prominent liberal, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, to call for a more equitable economic system.
He called for a progressive tax rate, free pre-kindergarten and a minimum wage hike to help those struggling at society’s margins.
De Blasio will also unveil his liberal platform known as The Progressive Agenda at the U.S. Capitol.
De Blasio has drawn some criticism for his surge in travel outside New York.
He said that he can help those at home by changing national policies.
