Democrats in the New York state Senate are expected to try again to force a vote on the removal of Senate Leader Dean Skelos.
Senate Democratic filed a motion last week to force a vote on removing Skelos. The vote could come as early as Monday.
The move by the chamber’s minority comes a week after the Long Island Republican was charged in federal court with using his position and influence to arrange payments to his son, Adam, from a real estate firm and an environmental technology business.
Meanwhile, GOP lawmakers plan to meet late Monday morning in Albany to discuss Skelos’ future as Senate leader, one of New York state government’s most powerful positions.
Skelos has led the Senate on and off since 2008. He says he and his son are innocent.
