The battle being waged in Ashdod against the ‘Big’ Shopping Center’s chilul Shabbos seems to have gained support from rabbonim including the Badatz Eida Chareidis. The Eida is calling on the entire tzibur to join the battle by targeting branches of the center nationwide, using the chareidi community’s economic power to compel the closure of stores on Shabbos.
The rabbonim shlita of the Eida met and decided to encourage a boycott of Big to stop the chilul Shabbos before it becomes too commonplace chas v’sholom. Amid reports that many frum businessmen are heavily invested in the Big Center in Ashdod, the Eida is calling on them to pull out their investment to bring the mall operators to their knees.
The decision by the Eida was signed by Gavaad HaGaon HaRav Yitzchok Tuvia Weiss Shlita and Ravaad HaGaon HaRav Moshe Sternbuch Shlita, calling on the chareidi tzibur to boycott Big Centers nationwide in light of the insistence to operate on Shabbos in Ashdod.

Very good. It’s about time we frum Jews do something for shabbos.
Boycotts are an excellent tool for battling dangers & changes. .
real yid-if you want to do something for Shabbos, perhaps begin by inspiring the not yet frum by your behavior. You can leave the intimidation and boycotts to the insurgents, as that path never brings anyone closer to G-d or his Torah.
HaRav Yitzchok Tuvia Weiss and HaRav Moshe Sternbuch are “insurgents’?
To Chereidi amiti- Boycotts are NOT intimidation. They are a quiet and legitimate form of protest and an excellent way of trying to change a situation. Certainly no frum or even traditional Jew should support chillul Shabbos.
Trying to inspire the not-yet frum is certainly a beautiful and important thing to do and even a chiuv.
With best wishes and kol tuv
