President Reuven and First Lady Nechama Rivlin on Monday afternoon 15 Iyar sent a gift and their good wishes to HRH The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their daughter.
The gift included a beaded brooch with a heart shaped charm and a ‘Hamsa’ – the Jewish hand shaped symbol for bracha, fortune, and success. Alongside it was sent an Israeli made dress for a new-born baby with ‘From Israel with Love’ on its front.
In an accompanying letter to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the President and First Lady wrote to express their congratulations to all the Royal Family on behalf of all the citizens of Israel. They wrote, “On behalf of ourselves and of the citizens of the State of Israel, please allow us to offer our congratulations and good wishes on the birth of Your Majesty’s great-granddaughter, the new baby princess, to you and all the members of the Royal Family.
“We would also like, through your good offices, to convey a warm message of congratulations and good wishes to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their daughter, sister to Prince George and to wish them much joy health, and happiness.”
