The Movement for Quality Government (MQG) on Tuesday morning 16 Iyar 5775 petitioned the High Court of Justice against the appointment of Aryeh Deri as a cabinet minister in the incoming government. The petition is based on the fact that Deri was convicted of fraud, breach of trust and bribery, making him unsuited to serve as a cabinet minister again. The petitioner is seeking a court order blocking Deri’s appointment until a ruling is issued on the petition.
MQG feels his appointment as a minister would result in a sever violation of proper government and the integrity of public service, the rule of law and the public’s confidence in the government system.
The experts predict that the court will reject the petition since the law does not prohibit Deri from serving as a minster.

Rabin got to serve as PM in ’92 after his resignation in ’76 due to an illegal bank account
Flatto Sharon made his own party and got himself elected specifically to avoid a conviction

This is a time for the Supreme Court to take a proactive stance and speak up for the moral backbone of Israel. It is ridiculous to any independent thinking person that a crook convicted of such serious crimes against society as Deri was, can become a Cabinet Minister. His appointment shows that Netanyahu has no moral compass.
