Special Election In NYC For Congressional, Assembly Seats

voteVoters in Staten Island and certain sections of Brooklyn are getting another chance to make their political preferences known.

New York holds a special election Tuesday to fill a vacancy in a congressional seat and another in the state Assembly.

The 11th Congressional District seat became vacant when Republican Rep. Michael Grimm stepped down after he pleaded guilty in December to federal tax evasion.

State Assemblyman Karim Camara left his position in the 43rd state Assembly District. The Brooklyn Democrat has since become the executive director of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Office of Faith-Based Community Development Services.

In the congressional race, Staten Island District Attorney Dan Donovan is the Republican candidate. He faces Democrat Vincent Gentile, a member of the New York City Council and former state senator.

  1. yes Crown Heights is, and they have a frum candidate, however Dov Hikind is endorsing the OTHER candidate, not sure why

For the Congressional seat the whole Staten Island can vote, so yes Frum Jews are included.
As for the Assembly seat, I believe Crown Heights is included and if I am not mistaken, a Frum Jew is running for that seat in the Assembly.
