The House committee investigating the 2012 attacks on Americans in Benghazi, Libya, says it has received more than 4,000 pages of documents from a review board appointed by the State Department to investigate the attacks.

The State Department says documents from its Accountability Review Board mark the first time that proceedings from such a review board have been turned over to Congress.

Republican Trey Gowdy of South Carolina is chairman of the Benghazi panel. He calls the newly released documents “an important part of ensuring the committee has access to all the facts” surrounding the attacks that killed four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador to Libya.

Gowdy has called former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to testify at a public hearing the week of May 18.
