Netanya police admit they see difficult situations daily, but the abuse suffered by this 84-year-old man by the person in charge of caring for him has elicited the ire of many in the station. The man is bedridden and basically helpless according to the victim’s son, who placed a camera in the home when he suspected something was wrong with his father’s care.
The video was brought to the police station and the caretaker from Sri Lanka, 48, was taken into custody. He denied the allegations against him but when police showed him the video, he announced he is exercising his right to remain silent.
Netanya Police Chief Commander Doron Turgeman said, “This is a most difficult case and one’s heart cannot remain indifferent. The suspect was arrested and remanded by the court”.
