The Obama administration is looking at streamlining information given to families of terror hostages. That’s in response to complaints about how the government has kept relatives of kidnapped Americans apprised about their status.
White House spokesman Josh Earnest says the White House is looking at creation of a “fusion cell.” It would include members of the intelligence community, law enforcement, the Pentagon and the State Department to create a single point of contact for families desperate for information about loved ones.
The White House says it hopes to finish a review of hostage policies this spring. Attention to the review comes after word Thursday that U.S. drone strikes killed two al-Qaida hostages, one American and one Italian, in January.
