Yisrael Beitenu party leader Avigdor Lieberman realizes that he is not likely to receive the Foreign Ministry appointment as expected. Lieberman made it clear to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, that he I unwilling to sit in a coalition government that includes the chareidi parties, giving an ultimatum , that the new government is formed without the chareidim or his party, with six seats, will move to the opposition.
If Lieberman’s party opts for the opposition, the prime minister can assemble a coalition with a majority of 61, which would include Likud, Yahadut Hatorah, Shas and the Bayit Yehudi parties.
Lieberman announced that he is unwilling to enter a coalition that includes the chareidi parties, which he accuses of extorting money from the national treasury.

And how many seculars including HIM have been playing around unlawfully with government money?? At least the religious help everyone!!
He shrewdly is making himself a hero
If the Governing Coalition gives the Country goals and stability (and a little glory)
people will ,all normal whining aside,be more than satisfied.
Otherwise ,the public will just shrug ,build resentment and start waiting towards next elections
If Lieberman goes to the opposition, he will blend in with the other centrist parties, and his party will have no differentiation strategy.Making the threshold if he switches to the opposition will be tough work.
It doesn’t really matter if he is in the coalition or not. He still has his right wing views. He will vote according to his views.the only difference is that they cannot ask for strict discipline on all the votes as they can from a coalition member.
With all the corruption in his party and while his party is imploding, he is hardly in a position to dictate who will be in the coalition. The numbers dictate that the Chareidi parties are needed far more than he is.
About Time: He will shrewdly leave himself with nothing. At best, the only one he will take any votes away from is Lapid, so that would be so bad.
Netanyahu shrewdly did a number on allied potential threats to him, but the votes he took away from Bayit Yehudi won’t happen next time, but Liberman’s may. Liberman lost his votes because of corruption.
From Netanyahu’s perspective, he can choose between the Hareidim (Shas and Degel ha-Torah) or the radical secularists (Lieberman and Lapid). If effect if one wants to much, he can go with the other. As long as the Hareidim don’t get too greedy, Likud will prefer tham as allies.
Remember the Lieberman and Lapid are both committed to implementing penal sanctions against hareidim.
The real problem here is that the only thing Lieberman wants is the Foreign Ministry, but Netanyahu will not give up such a senior ministry for only 6 seats. Now that Lieberman has finally realized that he will not be getting the Foreign Ministry, he has decided to jump on the all popular Chareidi-hating bandwagon, hoping to win himself support for next time.
Hmm… Six seats or thirteen? What should Bibi choose? He just wants to make it look like he didn’t come onto the government on principle, instead of looking like a sore loser about the foreign ministry. He knows the chareidim are in the government. He wants the anti religious segment to rally around him next time (when Labor may be in power). A 61 seat government is living on life support, it’s not lasting the term. He’s already preparing for next time.
Typical Israeli, will bite his nose despite his face
#3 ought to be restated
The country Does want fundamental societal change
1.They desire to resume and revive the warmth of the past that was rent asunder by continental european [imperial] secularism and labor/secular zionism
2.There is an inner rootlessness among the younger generations
3.They are tired and numb of political instability and fractitioness, that the System seems to engender.
Moreso,
They were/are scared of fundamental societal changes that the left and Secularist ‘center’ were propagating and threatening to foist, and hope for a means to Constitutionally stop it .
They will scream as the processes are underway,
They will still probably scream and protest as the processes of change will be underway, while in the long run(,and all the while internally,)they will be delighted
Chas veshalom that the truth about these people should be publicized.
