The word leaked to the media is that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is working to persuade Aryeh Deri that he should agree to another government ministry other than the Interior Ministry. It is reported PM Netanyahu offered Deri to become the next minister of transportation.
On Wednesday morning 26 Nissan, MK Yisrael Eichler decided to share his opinion on Kol Berama Radio. Speaking to host Moti Lavi, Eichler stated that the transportation portfolio is no less significant that the interior ministry. Eichler explained the chareidim rely on public transportation more than any other group in Israel, and therefore having a chareidi minister would be a major advantage.
Lavi asked Eichler why during his years in Knesset he has never been appointed to a significant post. He responded that if given the opportunity, he would gladly become the deputy minister of transportation with responsibility for the nation’s public transportation. Ge feels if given the opportunity he would be able to revamp the system to provide fair transportation for the chareidi community.
