A complaint filed with the Oregon Department of Justice has led to a change in policy for the SodaStream Company which will no longer mark “made in Israel” on products sold in the US market but “Made in the West Bank”, foreign media agents report. The complaint cites the company violates US fair trade laws since it is not located in Israel in the viewpoint of the US administration.
The company has been a favorite target of anti-Semites because the factory is set up in Mishor Adumim, the industrial area near Maale Adumim. Company officials over the years have shown it employees hundreds of PA (Palestinian Authority) residents putting them out of business would leave the workers unemployed.
However the hate for Israel overrides all else and a few hundreds unemployed PA residents bothers the world far less than the successful Israeli company operating in “The West Bank”.
As an end result of the international pressure from pro-PA elements, the factory is likely to be relocating to Lehavim in southern Israel in 2015, inside the so-called Green Line. So at the end, the product in the future will once again be “Made in Israel” and the hundreds of PA residents will lose their jobs.

1. Since it doesn’t say whether made by Israelis or Palestinians (or in this case, by Palestinians working for an Israeli company), that might help marketing.
2. Since when does a state decide such issues – the legal people involved probably assumed this reflects the views of the Federal government (and given the Obama administration’s view of Israel, its surprising they didn’t say something worse).
3. If a West Bank company is not Israeli, are they bound by Israeli law (e.g. can they legally pirate intellectual property, since they aren’t part of a country that is a party to treaties governing such matters)? Should the Israelis allow them to be sued by foreigners in Israeli courts?
Bh they shudnt hire them to begin with! !!!
I hope the PA supporters are happy.
