Councilman David G. Greenfield thanked the FDNY, Chaveirim, Shomrim, Community Board 12 Chairman Yidel Perlstein and District Manager Barry Spitzer for their help in coordinating, organizing and inspecting all of the chametz burn sites tomorrow starting at 7:30AM. The cooperation between Councilman Greenfield, community leaders and the FDNY over the past few weeks has been paramount in establishing the 31 sites throughout Boro Park. It is important that all residents who are taking part in this annual tradition use these official locations and do not create their own sites for safety reasons and so everything runs as smoothly as possible.
“I want to thank all of the groups that are working together to make sure we are safe. However, I am especially grateful for the leadership of Community Board 12 in Barry Spitzer and Yidel Perlstein and the New York City Fire Department. I am thrilled at the great work that the FDNY does, led by Brooklyn Borough Commander Chief Wayne T. Cartwright, to ensure the safety of our community during biur chametz.” said Councilman Greenfield.
New Yorkers may only use authorized chametz burning sites. Any fire that is started elsewhere will immediately be put out by the Fire Department. The following authorized chametz burn sites will be established at the following 31 locations and will be open from 7:30AM. to 11:45AM on Friday, April 3, 2015:
