Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu invited the chief rabbis of Israel, Rabbi Dovid Lau Shlita and Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef Shlita, to join him while the nation’s chametz is being sold. The problem began earlier this week amid the realization the finance minister was fired. The prime minister had to request from his cabinet to extend his tenure as acting finance minister.
Mr. Netanyahu then invited the Chief Rabbis to be present while the chametz is sold.
It is noted that generally, the finance minister comes to Beit Yahav, the office of the Chief Rabbinate to execute the sale. Due to the security arrangements required to accommodate the prime minister, this year it was decided that the Chief Rabbis would come to the Prime Minister’s Office where the transaction will take place.
