In keeping with the annual custom, sanitation officials in Jerusalem are busy cleaning the city for Pesach. Councilman Yitzchak Pindrus recently held a number of meetings with the relevant persons and agencies along with the head of sanitation, Mr. Tzion Sheetrit. They visited some of the frum neighborhoods in the capital to get a first-hand look at what has to be done before yomtov.
Garbage pickup in frum areas will double beginning on Sunday, 9 Nissan. Trash will be removed from these areas twice daily through chol hamoed and motzei yomtov.
City officials add this this year, special attention will be paid to areas including Machane Yehuda, the Bucharim Shuk, Meah Shearim, and markets in the Old City.
As in past years, special receptacles will be placed in frum areas for burning chametz beginning on Thursday, 13 Nissan. Residents are urged to limit burning chametz to those areas.
