Tzfas Mayor Ilan Shochat, who was elected to the Knesset in to serve in the Bayit Yehudi party. The mayor held a press conference on Tuesday, 4 Nissan to announce that despite being elected to Knesset, he prefers to remain in his current post as mayor of Tzfas.
Those in the know believe that Shochat expected to be appointed to a higher position than MK had Yisrael Beitenu earned more seats. Hence the decision to remain in Tzfas City hall.
His decision opens the door for Robert Elituv, who is in the seventh slot on the party lineup. He is a known close associate of party leader Avigdor Lieberman.
