Kahlon Receives Finance Ministry – Bennett Will Not Become Defense Minister

kahPrime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Kulanu party leader Moshe Kahlon have already met in unofficial coalition talks. Mr. Netanyahu agreed to Kahlon’s request to become Israel’s next finance minister. Kahlon added that his party will submit additional request for positions of responsibility in the next Knesset as the party earned 10 seats in national elections.

Regarding the Bayit Yehudi party wish list, or more correctly the wish list of party leader Naftali Bennett, it has already been made clear to Bennett that he will not become the next defense minister and this request is not a matter subject to negotiations. It is being explained that Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon will continue in his post. Bennett will now try for the foreign minister post, which is also sought after by Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, who wishes to continue.

  1. “Regarding the Bayit Yehudi party wish list, or more correctly the wish list of party leader Naftali Bennett”

Why such wording? The same can be said for the wish list of every party head.

  2. The US administration
is threatening to sever it’s Aid Package

Netanyahu should turn the tables and use this as an opportunity

Netanyahu proposed to Congress several years ago to decrease US Aid,and was heartily applauded.

Israel ,presently, is a country of growing wealth. The US,in comparison, is in decline.

The Gov’t Coalition Economic Programme (Program for those in the US)also ought to develop a plan towards the diminishing the widening socioeconomic gap

1)Blowing open the monopolies (and taking on the Tycoons and Cartels that dominate so much of the economy. It is undoubtedly also precarious, making mortal enemies out of some of the most predominant ‘families’ )!

2)Revenue soon to be flowing from the offshore oilfields,if managed adroitly for the public good, c/should potentially be a massive boon for all!

Most Importantly, all changes ought to be embedded into solid ground,to stop a later Gov’t from easily overturning them

  3. BarryLS1: It appears that to a greater extent than some other leaders of parties, Bennett is more interested in advancing his own career (by receiving jobs that make him look more like a future prime minister), than in benefitting his followers (by getting dull, boring jobs with lots of goodies to hand out).

  4. Bennet made a demand and a request to join the govt. His unconditional demand – which has been met – was that Bibi form a reght-wing govt. His request -which was denied – was the ministership. But everyone knows that of all the other politicians Bibi feels most threatened by Bennet’s popularity so he will keep him in lo

  5. akuperma: All the politicians are the same in that regard. It’s power and influence. I’d prefer to see Bennett as Foreign Minister. He did an excellent job dealing with the media.

Other than the Chareidim, who don’t want the responsibility, 1/2 the Knesset wants to be Prime Minister.

  6. Bennett is very popular he represents a young netanyahu but much more steadfast in his faith and his policies and who will not bow to international pressure. Netanyahu is threatened by him. The reason Likud got so many votes was that many the national religious public (and other) voted for Likud instead of Bennett based on the last days of the Likud campaign. However I do not trust Netanyahu. Before the election he said No palestinian state and reversed it 2 days later. Now there is a building freeze in Har Homa. With the Likud its ambiguous, no fixed lines, no set policies etc. With Bennet it is clear. Thats the difference.
