On Friday, 7 Nissan, Israel will move to daylight savings time. On Thursday night to Friday at 02:00, clocks will move ahead one hour. This will result in a seven hour time difference between Israel and the east coast of the USA as was the case before America moved to DST.
DST will continue for 212 days and come to an end on motzei Shabbos Parshas Lech Lecha (11 Cheshvan/Oct. 24) at 02:00, at which times clocks will move back one hour to 01:00.
DST proponents report the savings to the economy is 300 million NIS annually in addition to improved quality of life by providing longer daylight days.
