PM Has 61 Seat Majority Says President Rivlin

bibBased on meeting with the various political parties, President Reuven Rivlin informed Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu that he has a 61-seat majority. That does not mean the prime minister will not have to reach agreement with the players to form a coalition, but it does mean that a majority of the 20th Knesset has recommended the presidential mandate be given to Mr. Netanyahu.

Kulanu party leader Moshe Kahlon recommended the mandate go to Prime Minister Netanyahu which gives the prime minister 10 seats in addition to Likud’s 30. Add to that the 8 seats of Bayit Yehudi and the 13 seats from the chareidi parties, and the prime minister has a majority, albeit by one seat.

In the Yesh Atid party’s meeting with the president the party opted not to recommend anyone for the presidential mandate.

  1. If the Hareidi parties and Bayit Yehudi are greedy in making demands, Lapid might end up coming into the government (if Lapid settles for not having a major ministry), and his condition will be to implement the cosncription of hareidim.

  2. Scary though it maybe,Lapid (with his big $ backers)are in it and he is prepared for the long haul

Many are way too hastily writing off Yesh Atid
They may down ,but he is far from out

He scored major PR points twice in the past 5 days
First, challenging Likud over expanding the number of Coalition Ministers and threatening to go to the Supreme
Then demanding that the Leader of Shas be kept out of the Interior Ministry

  3. Typo

They may be down ,but they/he is far from out

    However we may desire still
“Reports of their death are greatly exxagerated”

  4. Apukerma,do you have something against the Hareidi parties? You seem to hope they lose out and all the boys get drafted.

  5. What akuperma wants is a left wing government. Hes obsessed with the conscription issue, which has become a non issue today. He thinks the right wing wants to conscript chareidim by force. He doesn’t realize that it was all the doing of Lapid. Today Lapid is smaller and doesn’t wield the power to hold the government hostage any longer. Besides, bibi cant stand him and much prefers the chareidim. But akuperma has been hoping that the conscription issue will force the chareidim to join labour and thus join the Arabs in a coalition government chas vesholom. This is the dream of the neturei karta. He hasn’t gotten over the fact, that thanks to hashem, this wont be happening. And since Lapid is not even under consideration by bibi , therefore the chareidim stopped talking about conscription. The only one still talking about it in multiple posts, is akuperma. Time to move on akuperma and worry about the real issue of the time, which is the security of the Jewish people.
