A kenos against the use of smartphones was held in the Shalom V’Re’us Shul at 63 Kehillos Yaakov Street in Bnei Brak on motzei Shabbos Parshas Vayikrah. While one of the rabbonim was addressing the tzibur, speaking out harshly against using an iPhone, the rav noticed one of the participants was in possession of a smartphone and he was videoing the event.
According to an eyewitness quoted by Kikar Shabbos News, the rav instructed him to stop videoing but the person did not adhere to his words. Four participants then approached him and tried to get him to stop videoing. One then sprayed the holder of the phone with pepper spray.
The man ran out and called police. He did not require transportation to a hospital.
The kenos then resumed literally with a hand full of people, who were asked to sign a document committing not to use smartphones.

“literally with a hand full of people”
Wow! That guy’s got huge hands!!!
“literally with a hand full of people” If the YWN Israel Desk needs a copyeditor, I’m happy to take the job. English, yikes!!!
The irony of this story… the guys without the smartphones assaulted a fellow Jew, the one with the smartphone. I guess giving up a smartphone does nothing for one’s middos.
Pepper spray guy is a wack job. I-phone guy is a total nincompoop.
Dear potential editors and proofreaders, what’s worse: the “hand full” or the “literally?” Hmmm? And I wouldn’t hold your breath; I have offered, too. Begged. One would think it an asset to have an English online news site in real English, but I guess we will just have fun instead.
*riling the place up.
why would he release pepper spray into the room? It seems that either he wanted EVERYBODY to choke & leave; or the guy is such a dope
