While the Central Election Committee kept its hand on the pulse during Election Day, responding quickly and decisively to prevent electioneering on radio and television on Election Day, the same cannot be said in the Arab sector.
According to TV News reports, Arab affairs correspondents stated that there was no monitoring or enforcement of the election law in the Israeli Arab sector and the message to get out and vote for the Arab bloc was sent loud and clear throughout Election Day.
As a result of the unprecedented effort to get Israeli Arabs out to vote, the combined Arab parties earned 14 seats as opposed to the 11 seats they hold in the outgoing Knesset.
(The number of seats may fluctuate. The Central Election Committee states the final numbers will be released Thursday morning, 28 Adar).

The Arabs represent 20% of the Israeli population, so in reality there should be 24 Arab MKs.
I guess the Arabs vote at a lower rate than the general population, like Blacks in the US.
