Despite the disappointment, earning only six seats, some 200,000 voters did cast a ballot for Yahadut Hatorah in the elections for 20th Knesset.
Sadly, the arguments were heard in shuls Wednesday morning and angry Gimmel supporters blame the Yerushalmi faction for losing a seat in the next Knesset and not earning an eighth seat, which according to pollsters appeared likely for a period of time prior to elections.
There is anger and disappointment in the frum community, highlighted by the split between Degel Hatorah and the Yerushalmi faction, which has a direct negative impact on the outcome of the elections.
The new reality, the fact that Yachad did not pass the minimum threshold in Knesset, leaves the frum representation in the 20th Knesset at only 14 seats, as opposed to 18 seats in the current outgoing 19th Knesset. While it is evident that chareidi parties will be invited to enter the coalition, their influence will be limited as their coalition koach has been diminished significantly.

…and I hope yeshivaworld.com takes at least a small amount of responsibility for their misguided attempts to try to influence people toward the breakaway parties. B’h it was not worse…
One thing I can tell you. This time around, Gimmel went out of their way driving people crazy to vote for them, and it might have also put some people off. We personally were getting computerized phone calls for a full week both in our home line and in our cell phones and not once a day but at least 6 times a day – up to midnight. And then on election day, we got calls: Have you gone to vote yet?! ! We were furious – Look, we’ll do what the Gedolim say, you don’t have to grab us by the neck and drive us crazy.
A shame. Look what machlokes has lead to.
Then when it comes to any laws being passed, and the Yerushalmi Faction go out to demonstrate against the government, they have only themselves to blame.
The same thing will again happen in every future election, with Degel/UTJ losing a seat or two every election unless they reunify with the Yerushalmi/Bnei Torah faction. Degel/UTJ will have to bite their pride and compromise with the Yerushalmi/Bnei Torah faction and give them some of what they ask for.
Otherwise Degel/UTJ can expect in the future to indefinitely remain one or two less MKs below than they’ve been in the past with the Yerushalmi/Bnei Torah faction again voting against UTJ.
It’s Degel’s call. It’s like what happened some decades back when Degel broke off from Agudah and they ended up losing a seat.
I Hope all the big big babies are happy now. They got what they deserve!
A bit of advice to Gimmel: STOP PERSECUTING THE YERUSHALMI FACTION NOW AND YOU WILL GO TO EIGHT IN NEXT ELECTION.
Who is persecuting? They just decided that Degel isn’t frum enough or am I uninformed?
#6 – The opposite is the truth. Rav Steinman’s top instruction to Yated is to make sure not to write NOT ONE NEGATIVE WORD about the so called ‘B’nei Torah’ faction.
– They lose seats for the frum in the kneset, and then they want to remain with the same Kollel check…
