In a significant move, MK Tzipi Livni, who signed a rotation leadership agreement when joining the Labor party list, announced she is forgoing the agreement just 12 hours ahead of the opening of the polls on Election Day. Livni made her announcement on Monday evening 25 Adar.
Livni explains she has decided to put her own personal gain aside for the good of the party and she feels that if she bows out of the agreement it may be easier to build a coalition. Livni stresses that the goal is to oust PM Netanyahu and she is willing to make the difficult decision towards achieving the goal.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was quick to comment, releasing a statement “they are panicking”, trying to reassure voters.
The deal between Livni and Herzog called for rotating the premiership in the event Herzog becomes the next prime minister.

Asked whether Herzog has the ‘killer instinct’ that many Israelis expect in their prime ministers, the candidate’s older brother Michael, a retired general and Defence Ministry chief of staff, was circumspect.
“There are different kinds of leadership,” he told Army Radio.
Exactly, there is the gutless “leadership,” as in a leader in name only that leads from the rear and follows whichever way the wind blows and by wishful thinking.
Notice that the IDF has a disproportionate amount of casualties from among its officers, because unlike other societies, Israelis lead from the front. Hopefully, they won’t forget it as they go to vote.
