Rabbi Berland Instructs Talmidim to Vote Gimmel

berlRabbi Eliezer Berland is instructing his chassidim to cast their ballots for Gimmel, Yahadut Hatorah. The rav explains they must vote for chareidim, changing from and earlier announcement to back the Yachad party. The change was announced after the rav had a conversation with MK Yaakov Litzman, with the latter explaining the importance of his tzibur’s vote.

Rav Litzman maintains a good relationship with Rav Berland and has assisted his mosdos in his capacity as a MK.

A copy of the Rav’s letter follows.

  1. Of course Gimmel and not Yachad.
I don’t know how so many people here support Yachad.
Can you not see what Yachad did? Went against Daas Torah?!!
If he succeeds, what will it stop other charedi MK’s from going out and opening their own party. Until now there was a Moetzes for Gimmel and a Moetzes for Shas. Due to his honor, fighting over the main seat of Shas, he went against that and opened his own party, found some Rav to support him…. Now does that sound something we should be supporting??

Whatever transpired beforehand, Deri was the leader of Shas party, and kudos to Yishai for stepping in, though it does get rightfully handed back to Deri. Now for the machlokes of honour, over teh seat, he went against Rabbonim and caused unnecessary strife.

What would you say if someone from Gimmel would decide the same and open his own party, deviating from the Moetzes?

Since when has Yishai been so pro-Israel? Suddenly he springs up with all his ideas, suddenly the land means so much to him, suddenly he’s so charedi and all….

Just watch out who you support, as you never know what the consequences will be. Let us have the right da’as to chose what is right, go along with the Rabbonim, and may we see a strong presence of Yehadut Hatorah and Shas in the upcoming Knesset, representing us Charedim!

  2. 11957: Why should Shas have been have been handed back to Deri by Yishai? Yishai had the chazaka of running it already. And Rav Ovadia said he wanted Yishai to stay. Put Deri pressured Rav Ovadia and Deri threatened to open up his own breakaway party if Rav Ovadia didn’t give Shas to him.
