Three men accused in a plot to travel to Syria to join the Islamic State group have pleaded not guilty to terrorism charges.
Twenty-four-year-old Abdurasul Hasanovich Juraboev, 19-year-old Akhror Saidakhmetov and 30-year-old Abror Habibov appeared in federal court in Brooklyn on Friday.
Habibov was arrested in Florida and extradited earlier this week.
The three were indicted Monday on charges of conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization, conspiracy and travel document fraud. Federal officials say Juraboev and Saidakhmetov had tickets to travel to Turkey but were really going to Syria.
Habibov is accused of helping Saidakhmetov with his travel arrangements after the teen’s mother took his passport. She did not comment outside court.
Lawyers said their clients were innocent.
