After recent events around the world, the Bus Transit Association (representing 300 bus drivers in Boro Park, Brooklyn) believes there is a need to train bus drivers in the event of an active shooter or similar emergency.
The organization released a statement which reads in part: After much research we came across Gary Moore, a retired Missouri Highway State Trooper who offers training based on last year’s Alabama bus driver shooting and kidnapping incident. Our association arranged for Officer Moore to train all heimishe mosdod bus drivers.
Also expected to attend will be members of the NYPD 66th and 70th precincts, Counter Terrorism units, members of NYC OEM (Office of Emergency Management), Office of the Mayor, NYC Dept. of Education, and elected officials.
