Brooklyn, New York (March 2015)—Just one year ago, Ohr Naava astounded the frum world with a first-of-its-kind event that fused fabulous shopping with gastronomic delights, all to support a beloved organization. This year, Ohr Naava has built on the overwhelming success to create an unprecedented retail paradise in New York’s newest and coolest venue—to be unveiled tomorrow.
Brooklyn MRKT 2015 will take place this Sunday, March 15, from 11 AM-10 PM, and this Monday, March 16, from 11 AM-5 PM at the all-new Brooklyn Expo Center, 72 Noble Street. Situated along the East River waterfront at the fore of Brooklyn’s cultural renaissance, the expansive, breathtaking convention center boasts ceiling-to-floor glass windows, chic architectural lines, 28,000 square feet of exhibition space, and on-site, ground-level parking for over 200 vehicles.
It is a fitting setting for the MRKT, a rarefied retail exposition magnificently staged in show-stopping hues and ultra-hip décor. Featuring an exclusive selection of New York’s finest vendors, each showcasing the season’s latest trends and novelties, the MRKT hooks up premier shops with discriminating shoppers, via an engaging social event that invites conversation, collaboration, and connection.
As they browse a curated collection of statement-making products, attendees can scope out the most avant-garde and inventive finds, ranging from attire and jewelry to cosmetics, millinery, accessories, wigs, children’s wear, home goods, artwork (and of course, food!), with a portion of the proceeds going to sustain Ohr Naava’s essential work.
“Ohr Naava is the future of our girls,” say the proprietors of Renaissance Wigs, a proud MRKT sponsor. “A portion of every wig sale at our booth is going straight to them—Renaissance is not making any profit—and we’re thrilled to be able to do that.”
Tzippy Knobel, founder of the Dimensions Maternity chain—another event sponsor, is similarly excited to be empowering the Ohr Naava movement. “Rabbi Wallerstein does amazing work with young women; he changes lives. We are inspired by his dedication.”
Complementing the voguish, creative atmosphere at the MRKT designed by Birch Events, will be a luxurious Breadberry food bar, where attendees can redeem a free gift card to enjoy a brunch or lunch package and then dine with friends in the comfortable ambiance of the adjoining Ami Café. In addition, a gourmet station by Heavenly Events will offer tastings all day and night.
Participants—who can purchase discounted MRKT entry tickets online—will also be able to earn a chance at winning 20 spectacular gifts each worth $1000, including gift certificates to Simpson’s, Bergdorf Goodman, Junee, Breadberry, the Apple Store, Jet Blue, and loads more. What’s more, shoppers who purchase auction packages can be eligible for a choice of free gifts, including a magnificent new cookbook from Artscroll, Rabbi Wallerstein’s Let There Be Rain, a funky set of leather serving trays, and an exclusive Freida Rothman ring (while supplies last).
“Ohr Naava has a vision, and we’re excited to use our vision to enable theirs,” says Avi Vizel, CEO of Eyes and Optics, a New York chain of eyewear and vision care sponsoring the MRKT.
“Ohr Naava has emerged as a life-changing bridge—guiding thousands of women and girls to achieve their dreams in a safe and supportive environment,” says Rabbi Zechariah Wallerstein, who founded the organization in 2003 with the goal of creating a comprehensive answer to the needs of today’s Jewish woman. “The proceeds from the Brooklyn MRKT will enable us to continue transforming lives—and futures.”
