Knesset Candidate Amos Yadlin is a retired IDF major-general who served in the air force as a combat pilot as well as chief of military intelligence. If the Labor/ The Movement list is successful in the upcoming elections and forms a coalition, Yadlin will serve as defense minister.
One might expect that among the candidates who claim to champion democratic values and liberalism and tolerance to act differently, but Yadlin on Tuesday, 19 Adar left a Bar-Ilan University panel discussion, refusing to sit with Yachad candidate Baruch Marzel. Interestingly, a man willing to sit with the most heinous terrorist leaders and calls for advancing peace efforts in the region is unwilling to sit with a prospective MK whom he disagrees with ideologically, because his political opponent is viewed as “extreme right-wing”, affiliated with the late Rabbi Meir Kahane HY”D.
Organizers of the event worked to find a solution but Yadlin was adamant in his refusal and got up and left.
Housing Minister (Bayit Yehudi) was harsh in his criticism of Yadlin, stating “I strongly condemn the behavior of Mr. Yadlin. He crossed a red line and set an unacceptable precedent, unacceptable on a panel, in public and certainty in Knesset. If it is not good for Mr. Yadlin then he should drop off the ticket and return home.
The university’s student body released a statement clarifying all viewpoints are heard and given a podium to express a position, the student body decried what occurred and opposes disqualifying any person or group.

Marzel loves every Yid as well as every millimeter of Eretz Yisroel. His politics while are hard-line, it’s his unyielding love for the above. So whild it is political it’s not politics per-se that drive him.
1. Demonizing your opponent is a common strategy in politics
2. There is no possibility that Yachad would join a coalition that includes Labor, so they can be as insulting as they want. While Shas and Yahadut ha-Torah could join a Labor led coalition (in return for cancelling penal sanctions for draft refusal), Yachad’s views on foreign affairs preclude that.
3. Since when are socialist parties known to “champion democratic values and liberalism and tolerance.” Whomever wrote that line was either being sarcastic or is serious lacking of worldly knowledge.
“One might expect that among the candidates who claim to champion democratic values and liberalism and tolerance to act differently”
Expect, Why? The Left everywhere always shows that they only tolerate views that agree with theirs. Nothing new here.
