The large pre-election kenos hosted by Yahadut Hatorah in Jerusalem’s Arena Stadium on Thursday, 21 Adar has been canceled. This was to have been ‘the’ pre-election event, attended by gedolei yisrael, admorim and rabbonim along with party officials.

After debates and discussions, the decision to cancel was made. There are different versions as to why the event is cancelled. Some report that there is internal machlokes, between Agudas Yisrael and Degel Hatorah. This machlokes reportedly has to do with undertaking the expense of the kenos and transportation.

MK Moshe Gafne told Kol Chai Radio host Avi Meron on Sunday night 17 Adar explained the reason for the cancellation is simply because it is too much to ask of Maran HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita, to travel to Yerushalayim for the kenos.

Others say the Gerre Rebbe Shlita called to cancel for fear young people may enter the kenos too.

While Yahadut Hatorah will not be holding the kenos, it does appear the Yerushalmi event planned for Sunday in the Arena Stadium is going to take place as scheduled.
