Gaza produce will be marketed in Israel this shmitah year for the first time since 2007. The decision was made by the IDF’s Coordinator of Activities in the Territories, the Ministry of Agriculture, Tax Authority and the PA (Palestinian Authority).
The marketing of Gaza produce will begin in the coming days in line with the green light from the Ministry of Health.
The decision may relieve shmitah concerns for some, but it is more likely to anger many who do not want to see their shekels used to support the same terrorists who fire rockets into Israel. It remains unclear in the Gaza produce will be marked as such or just mixed into without imported produce sold by the various badatz hechsherim during shmitah.

Considering that schmittah is once every year years, being the first time since 2007 isn’t surprising.
