Voting for 20th Knesset began on Wednesday, 13 Adar. 6,250 eligible voters in diplomatic facilities around the world began casting their ballots. The largest voting station abroad is in New York City where 600 are registered to vote. There are also voting booths in areas with a small diplomatic presence, even as few as two or three eligible voters. The voting abroad will end in the west coast of the USA on Friday, 15 Adar at 06:00. Election Day in Israel is on Tuesday, 26 Adar.
The voting began on Wednesday in Washington and New Zealand. According to a report in the daily Yisrael Hayom newspaper, the ballot slips were not ready in time and therefore, the voting abroad will be done by writing a party’s letters on a blank white piece of paper.
Regarding voting abroad in Arab countries, a ballot will be placed in Jordan only. Diplomatic corps personnel from Qatar and Egypt will vote in Israel.
In the last elections for the 19th Knesset, voter turnout abroad was 56%.
