Tel Aviv celebrates a new record broken on Friday morning 8 Adar in the Nonstop City by William Prono Yegon from Kenya who completed the full marathon in just 2:10:29 hours. The phenomenal success at Tel Aviv Marathon 2015 took place on the morning of February 27th, with 35,000 runners from Israel and around the world participating in the country’s biggest international sports event.
A record number of 2,300 runners ran the full marathon (42.2 km) with a further 8,500 running the half marathon. 1,200 international runners arrived in Israel to participate in the event. Over 150.000 people took part in the events.
The Marathon passed through the main streets and sites of the city, including Rothschild Blvd. (Tel Aviv’s main startup hub), the White City (the largest concentration of International Style architecture in the world – a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the city’s world famous beachfront and more.
The Marathon event included 6 individual races: Marathon (42.195 km), Half-Marathon (21 km), 10 km race, 5 km race, Hand-cycle race, Mini-Marathon for kids (420 m and 840 m).
150,000 people participated in the Marathon and its various events while cheering stations and music stages were built along the route. The Marathon ended at a huge event with celebrations, music and VIP areas.
The Nonstop City’s next marathon will take place on February 26, 2016.
