After a frigid February, New York City is preparing to start March with a snowstorm.
The city’s sanitation department has issued a snow alert for Sunday starting after noon. Snowplows, salt spreaders and staff are ready to go into action to clear a possible few inches.
Meteorologists at the National Weather Service say the average temperature for the city was about 24 in February.
That’s 11 degrees below the average of 35 for the month.
