The Central Election Committee on Wednesday, 6 Adar rejected a petition that seeks to prevent distribution of the daily Yisrael Hayom newspaper until after elections. Petitioners feel that the newspaper is too pro-Netanyahu and therefore, its distribution if tantamount to electioneering and it should be banned.
Committee Chairman Jubran Salim stated the petitioners failed to bring sufficient proof to back their claim and therefore the newspaper is not banned.
Yisrael Hayom is owned by Sheldon Adelson who is an outspoken supporter of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

Call a spade a spade. The truth is the Liberals fear this paper because of its success at quickly becoming the number one read paper in Israel and because of its conservative views. They fear that this paper is undermining Liberal views in the country. If it was a Liberal paper they’d have no problem with it at all.
