WATCH: High Speed Pursuit Starts In NJ, Ends With Crash In Brooklyn

A high-speed pursuit started in New Jersey and ended in Brooklyn New York, Tuesday afternoon, with the two occupants taken into custody.

The chase began in the afternoon when the suspect, driving a Chevy Malibu, fled U.S. Marshals in New Jersey before crossing the Outerbridge Crossing, and leading authorities on a pursuit across the West Shore Expressway, the State Island Expressway and the Verrazano Bridge.

The PAPD, New Jersey State Police, TBTA, and NYPD were all involved in the chase.

Police arrested the suspect around 2:00PM at Bay 14th Street and Cropsey Avenue, after a police car rammed into the suspects vehicle – forcing it to stop. One man fled on foot, but was taken into custody a few seconds later. The driver came out of the vehicle with his hands raised and surrendered to authorities.

NBC 4 New York reports that the U.S. Marshals’ Regional New York/New Jersey Task Force had been looking for the man in connection with the robbery, the details of which weren’t immediately clear.

  1. That’s ridiculous. Why didn’t they take take him out on the SI Expy or VNB where there were no bystanders? Why allow them to get on city streets where the danger was much greater?! Too much indecision, they could have PIT’ed him in Staten Island with safer results.
