There will be post-Shiva Hespedim this coming Sunday night for HaRav Sheya Schiff ZATZAL, the founder and Rosh Yeshiva of Mesivta Bais Shraga in Monsey, NY who was Niftar last week.
It will be held on Sunday evening at Mesivta Bais Shraga, 28 Saddle River Road, Monsey NY. Maariv will be held at 7:45, hesped 8:00.
Rav Sheya led Mesivta Bais Shraga for over fifty years.
Rav Schiff was a son-in-law of Hagon HaRav Shraga Feivel Mendlowitz who was a leader of American Orthodoxy and founder of key institutions such as Yeshiva Torah Vodaath. Rav Sheya was a talmid muvhak of HaRav Shlomo Heiman and HaRav Reuven Grozovsky, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Torah Vodaas and Bais Medrash Elyon.

Rav schiff was my rebbe in 1951 or 1952 IN YESHIVA ZICHRON MOSHE IN THE BRONX .I can still hear his voice talking to me in class. I met him one time many years later at a wedding. Little did i know his yichus then.Y”ZB.

I learned in bais shraga rabbi schiff was a real tzadik and an extremely nice man. One funny story he called me over during first seder to talk in learning with me when we were done he looks at me and said do you smoke, you smell like smoke and we dont allow smoking in yeshiva. I said of course not rosh hayeshiva! (i lied) then he started pleading with me to be mochel him for being choshed b’cheshairim needless to say i felt like trash

Rabbi Schiff had just turned 90 a few weeks ago.
He was the best of the best!!!
