An Interesting ‘Peace Now’ Poll


downloadAs political parties keep their eye on election polls, the Peace Now organization  has released a different type of poll, one that the party hopes will get its message of concern to the Israeli public. The poll coincides with the 32nd anniversary of the assassination of Emil Grunzweig.

Has the risk of a political assassination in Israel increased or decreased in past years?

47%: increased

34%: no change

19%: decreased

How do law enforcement agencies perform regarding incitement and political violence in the street or on the internet?

75%: too little is done

21%: doing an adequate job

4%: too strong a response

Do PM Netanyahu and President Rivlin act towards toning down inciteful political dialogue in Israeli society do they make it more severe?

Toning down:

59%: Netanyahu

22%: Rivlin

Don’t tone down or make more severe:

43%: Netanyahu

31%: Rivlin

Make it more severe:

35%: Netanyahu

10%: Rivlin

Emil Grunzweig was an Israeli teacher and peace activist affiliated with the Peace Now movement. He became an icon of the Israeli left after he was killed by a grenade thrown at a peace rally in Jerusalem in 1983.
