Security officials have announced that a combined ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) and Israel Police operation led to uncovering a terror cell based in Jerusalem involving Arab residents who possess Israeli identity cards. The cell involves residents of A-Tor who have been involved in a number of acts of terrorism.
With the increase in firebomb and rock attacks as well as attacks using fireworks, the ISA became involved in the investigation, which began in July 2014. The cell members carried out attacks with improvised pipe bombs and dozens of firebombs as well as hurling stones at police and the homes of area Jewish residents.
Dozens of people were involved in the attacks including torching a police car. Criminal indictments are being filed against five suspects in the coming days as the investigation continues.
