The members of the Central Election Committee will convene on Thursday, 23 Shevat to rule on requests to disqualify a number of parties and candidates from taking part in the upcoming national elections. The list includes a request from Likud and Yisrael Beitenu to disqualify MK Hanin Zoabi. It is pointed out that the committee disqualified her in the last elections but they ruling was overturned when she appealed to the Supreme Court.
The second request comes from an organization against racism, which wishes to disqualify Yachad candidate Baruch Marzel.
A vote will be taken following a discussion of the two candidates.
The committee will also discuss requests to disqualify Yisrael Beitenu, the Arab bloc, Alei Yarok, Labor/The Movement and Meretz.
As in the past, if the committee disqualifies Zoabi or Marzel, either may appeal to the Supreme Court.
