NY Lawmakers To Review Tax Changes In State Budget

albanyNew York lawmakers are taking a look at several proposed tax changes included in Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s state budget recommendation.

Cuomo has suggested a property tax credit for residents struggling under high property taxes. He’s also proposed a tax cut for small businesses that would gradually reduce taxes for some 42,000 taxpayers. He’s also suggested the creation of a tax credit for donations to public schools or private school scholarships.

Lawmakers are scheduled to review the proposals Monday morning at a budget hearing in Albany.

Legislators will likely offer their own tax proposals before the budget is adopted in the coming months.

Following Monday morning’s hearing lawmakers will review proposals in the budget related to economic development.
