After HaRav Yitzchak Bardas announced his break from Shas to back Yachad, HaRav Shmuel Eliyahu has made his position clear. He is no longer backing Bayit Yehudi, announcing his backing for the Yachad party too.

Rav Eliyahu this week visited with HaGaon HaRav Meir Mazuz Shlita to congratulate him on the party and the achdus. The rabbi arrived on Sunday afternoon 19 Shevat at the home of Rav Mazuz.

Rav Eliyahu, who serves as Chief Sephardi Rabbi of Tzfas may not publically become involved in politics because he is a civil servant. His gabboim explain that even if the rabbi does not come out publically for Yachad, his support should be clear following the visit to Rav Mazuz. He has also made his condition clear to his talmidim, removing any doubt from their minds.
