After more than 13 years imprisonment and a three-year legal battle, Bat Ayin resident Ofir Gamliel has been released from prison. Gamliel is a member of the so-called Bay Ayin Cell, which plotted acts of terror against Arabs. He was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment in 2001 for a terror bomb plot against an eastern Jerusalem Arab girl’s school.
The state prosecutor announced he will not appear the parole board’s decision to release Gamliel 18 months before serving his entire sentence. Gamliel is represented by Adi Kedar of the Honenu organization. In two previous cases in which the parole board ordered his release, a court overturned the decision.
Parole board officials report that Gamliel is a different person and has been rehabilitated. It is added that he has been a model prisoner and worked to assist and educate other prisoners, including delivering Torah shiurim.
Attorney Kedar told the press that he was hopeful that this time around the state would accept the parole board’s decision and not appeal it. Kedar added that the family is a good one and Gamliel’s children serve in the IDF and are receiving higher education.

13 years?!?! What about the animal Arabs were lucky if they stay in jail for 13 days before their friends kidnap a Jewish soldier or civilian and demand that 1000 of their people go free
